Buraka DJ/MC @ Hard Fest, NYC 03.04.10

Let’s catch up.

Those who’ve followed us since we came out with the single ‘Yah!’ know that we’ve been touring pretty much non stop for the last 3 years. We had a great time on all those continents, made lots of friends, swam with (sharks) dolphins, got arrested in Scandinavia, ended up in hospitals with some strange cardiac infection, knocked out a bunch of people crowd surfing and brought people to

their knees almost everywhere we performed. From Europe to the US, Asia and South America.

After that we took a well deserved 6 month vacation, and caught up with our families and friends. But as far as we’re concerned musicians never really take vacations, so after the first exciting weeks of doing NADA! we got bored, and slowly things started to move again.

We flew to the US for a one-off show at Hard NYC with our buddies in Major Lazer, and then settled into some personal pursuits.

Dj Riot created Faster Music, a Drum’n Bass, Dubstep and Grime imprint and released 2 digital singles. J–WOW went into a hyperactive creative spree, doing remixes and original tracks, delivering two singles, “Klang” – through Deadly People and “O Dedo” through Mad Decent.

Conductor went on an trip to Luanda and came back with his second record from his Hip-Hop project “Conjunto Ngonguenga” (too bad google translator doesn’t work on songs, but if you know how to speak portuguese you’re gonna enjoy the name).

Kalaf moved to Berlin and dedicated himself to his weekly chronicles in “Público” newspaper – some will be featured here very soon.

Buraka themselves still managed to present us with their brilliant BBC Essential Mix last April, gernering five star reviews from the international press and listeners. So we really didn’t really just lie around during our dreaks, sipping cocktails in the sun. We’ve actually been pretty busy!

And now, the usual suspects are reunited in the studio, working hard on a new live show for our festival dates this summer, before we lock ourselves again in the studio to make our second full length record.

For the live show this time around, we decided not only to give you guys your favorite songs from ‘Black Diamond’ and ‘Buraka To The World’ (with some touches here and there that will surprise you), but also some other songs and remixes you’ve heard in FabricLive as well as “B” sides from singles like “IC 19” and “Aqui para Vocês”.

Because we want to start working on new material this tour will be shorter than usual and will include only Europe and Brazil (whoop!). Check our tour diary and sorry to all the other countries we left out this time. But sooner than you expect we’re gonna be knocking at your door, and louder than ever! For those that happen to be in the cities that we’re gonna

visit in the next few months, the message is simple, bring your dancing shoes!
