Festival Sudoeste, Zambujeira Do Mar

This was our 3rd show at Festival Sudoeste.

We first played in 2006 and we were up against the mighty Daft Punk on the main stage.  It was a tough challenge, as the our tent only had 200 people, but we finished with a completely packed tent!
A year later we were invited to perform again on the main stage.  We had to follow Cypress Hill, which was kind of scary.  We had a great show and it was our first experience of having thousands of people in front of us.  Not sure if we were 100% ready, but it was fun.

In 2009 we were VERY ready and it was simply EPIC! Initially, the night wasn’t looking very exciting, as the main stage only had around 1000 people to watch The National and Macaco.  When it was time to start we already had 35,000 people in front of us. It felt like playing a small sold-out club.  Except it was a little bit bigger!

Instead of trying to make a big impression with celebrity guests etc, we decided to focus on getting the right environment on stage e.g. lights, video,
We had dancers, conffeti amongst other things so that we could perform a flawless show and have fun at the same time.  It worked.

We hooked up with a percussion orquestra (Tocá Rufar) for the intro and for Aqui para voces.  It sounded MASSIVE!”
